The GTA 6 leak incident poses no obstacle to the latest game’s development. Take-Two’s CEO comments on the case

Last September, a huge GTA 6 leak hit the Internet Forums, with the video footage of more than an
hour length in total. This makes it one of the most high-profile cyber attacks in the game industry.

The user behind the leak claims to have obtained it from Slack
Rockstar Games then replied that the GTA6 leak will be soon forgotten and won’t affect the game’s
development. Everything is going as planned.

This claim was backed up by the studio’s parent company Take-Two during after sharing its financial
information via earnings call.
Strauss Zelnick stated, “With regards to the leak, it was terribly unfortunate, and we take those sorts
of incidents very seriously indeed,”

“There’s no evidence that any material assets were taken, which is a good thing, and certainly the
leak won’t have any influence on development or anything of the sort, but it is terribly disappointing
and causes us to be ever more vigilant on matters relating to cybersecurity”, Take-Two CEO
summarised.

What made the leaked footage seemingly legitimate were the videos that show Vice City as the
game location and a new female character. The two aspect were already shared much earlier.
The young hacker who was arrested by London Police pleaded not gulty to the charges of the cyber
attack and illegal leakage.

Prosecutor Valerie Benjamin said the suspect had used a phone to hack into companies and was
“holding them to ransom” to gain access to illegally obtained software. The judge referred the case
to a higher court where it’ll be heard with a “similar” matter at a later date.
The Prosecutor in the case informed the minor had used a phone in order to gain access to the
company’s data and obtain their software.

What’s interesting, the teenager, was already arrested for hacking other IT companies, Microsoft
and Nvidia, earlier this year.

Take-Two, in the call on Monday, informed that Grand Theft Auto 5 has reached 150 million units
shipped since its debut in 2013.
